PHOTOS 2025
The June workshop at the Silver Band Hall was excellent. Lots of trees worked on, icluding Larch and Lonicera as well as Chinese Elm.
The show on 22nd June was excellent and well attended.
On a breezy but less hot day the displays were ready by opening time of 11am.
There were five displays, Blackmore Vale Bonsai group, Warminster Bonsai Club, Somerset Bonsai Club Staverton Bonsai group and late addition the Mini Bonsai Group.
The displays were judged by Chris Thomas and his choice was Staverton Bonsai Group.
The public also had a vote for their favourite tree, and the result was very close. The Best in show and best BVBG Members' tree was Ade Taylor again with a Beech Group. Coming second with a very ice Acer was Ian Duff.
The demonstrations were by Tony Oswin and Bob Burkin who worked on several trees.
The show was well received once again, and visitor numbers were up on last year.
The June workshop was a workshop and critique with Collette. The members brought a lot of trees to work on, and also some that were being prepared for the show on 22nd June.
The tree of the month was first for Ian second Geoff. Intermediate was Pat first.
The workshop was good as usual, with two visitors with trees for some help. Lots of trees pruned including Larch and Scots Pine etc.
The May meeting was very busy, with 7 beginners and a lot of members. The beginners had a Cotoneaster and a small Oak to work on. Tree of the month had 5 trees in the advanced and 2 intermediates.
The workshop on 19th April started wet but was sunny later, lots of trees were brought to be worked on including several Maples a Juniper Spruce Birch and more.
The workshop at the Silver Band Hall on 29th March was good, with a lot of trees mainly small ones were repotted.
​Next workshop will be a week earlier on 22nd April.
The workshop on 14th March was also the first part of the beginners course. Each had a small Larch and it was wired and styled then re potted into a training pot. The rest of the members were re potting or pruning various trees. 
​Tree of the month was first for Rob with a nice Crab Apple second Bob with a Cotoneaster. Intermediate was first for Pat.
The members had a superb workshop with Chris Thomas on 1st March. It was a very cold start but sunny. Many trees were worked on including Scots Pines, a large Larch, a christmas tree was pruned and wired as well. Also made was a Larch forest. 
Then in the afternoon several trees were carved.
It was a great day once again, and we hope to have another workshop later in the year.
The February workshop at the Silver band Hall was on the warmest day so far. Repotting was the order of the day, with a large old Larch repotted for the first time in over ten years. Many other trees repotted too.
The February meeting was very busy as a re potting workshop. Lots of trees were re potted or pruned and wired. It was a good meeting. 
Tree of the month was first in advanced for Geoff with his Larch and second Ian with his White Pine, and in the intermediate Pat first with an Acer.
​Next meeting is the monthly workshop at the Silver band Hall.
The January workshop at the Silver Band Hall was on a Sunny cold day. There were several Larch for light pruning plus a White Beech for leaf removal, Then there was a nice collected Scots Pine for styling after a lot of discussion branches were removed. Also worked on was an Ilex crenata. It waas a good. day
The first meeting of 2025 was a bit quieter than usual, with the cold and potentially icy conditions.
Some trees were worked on including leaves removed from a large Beech.
Tree of the month got off to a good start, first i advance was Ian second Ade. Intermediate was first for Pat.
