The September workshop was on what was probably the hottest day of the year, but in spite of that there was good work done on plenty of trees. These included a large White Pine a Satsuki, and unusually a Ficus. Several Junipers also were worked on.
The tree of the month was a first for Geoff in advanced and ade second, in the intermediates Pat was first.

On 28th August two members set up a display at the Donhead st Andrew fete. The day was dry with some sun at times, and with near 2000 visitors we had a lot of questions about the trees. Hopefully we have at least one new member as well which is the bonus. Well worth doing.
On 19th August we had a second workshop with Chris Thomas. Eight members attended the workshop. There was a large Larch belonging to John pruned and later carved. Also Geoff's Box was pruned and carved. Helen had her Ginko group pruned and assessed. Julian had a Pine for wiring and Michael a Juniper also for wiring. Kevin had some small pines and they were pruned and styled as well. Many other trees were worked on as well during the day.
We will be having another workshop probably in February 2024.

There were societies from the south west, plus a number of traders.
Roy Hutchinson did a demonstration on both days on two Scots Pines.
The best display judged by John Trott was awarded to Exeter Bonsai Society.
It was a good show worth doing, thanks to Ian and also Rachel for bringing trees and helping during the two days.

The workshop with Chris Thomas today was superb. Nine members were at the workshop and the first order of business was to see what trees Chris had on his van, and several were purchased.
Then trees were assessed and worked on.
In the afternoon Chris did some carving on several trees.
Hopefully we can have another workshop later in the year.

UKBA Auction plus mame suiseki and saikae show 22nd January 2023 at Sandhurst.
I left at just before 8am., on a frosty morning. The roads seemed ok, but I drove very easily, having to travel via Salisbury instead of the usual route.
I arrived at about 9.45 so well in time to view the show and the auction lots.
I walked around the show and then had a look at the lots. There were a few nice shohins that I was interested in.
The auction went well with some good prices, the shohins went for far more than I had with me so I did not buy any. It was a good day in all and worth the trip.

We found the house where we were staying and went looking for somewhere to eat. Next morning we arrived at the hall at 8am, and proceeded to look for trees to buy.
At 9am., the show opened and there was a steady stream of visitors all day.
The demos were well attended as well.
Next morning we again arrived at 8am, and went looking around. Not so many visitors but still busy.
The demos went well.
Morten Albek did his demo in the afternoon, then it was almost time to pack up.
At 5.30pm, we left for home arriving at 8pm. It was an excellent show well worth going. The next one is in two years.
